The only way that dyslexia can be formally identified is through a diagnostic assessment. Whether this assessment is for you, for your child, or for an employee – it will provide a clear picture of the person’s cognitive strengths as well as the areas in which they have difficulty.
I am proud to announce that I now work with GoLexia, to undertake diagnostic assessments. A full diagnostic report is provided for the individual being assessed – the report comes in two parts. The first is the at-a-glance, easy to read explanation with initial recommendations. The second is more in-depth, explaining exactly which tests were undertaken and how you/they responded to those tests. This is followed by a confirmation of whether or not you/they are dyslexic. In either case, full recommendations are provided for you (or your child or employee) to take to your/their education provider or workplace, in order to request reasonable adjustments, additional support or exam access arrangements
If you are unsure whether or not a diagnostic assessment is appropriate, then please contact me at GoLexia to discuss your situation. You can find more information at GoLexia.com, or by phoning 07551 525954. There are also a number of online screening tools available on the internet – these do not offer formal diagnosis, but will give a good indication of whether or not you (your child or your employee) should undertake assessment for diagnosis.
